NATA Participates in FAA/Industry DEF SRM Meeting

Last month, NATA staff attended a two-day diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) safety risk management (SRM) team meeting in Washington, D.C. Meeting participants, including representatives from the FAA and industry, conducted a safety risk assessment of the hazards associated with inadvertent contamination of jet fuel with DEF. Over the past year and a half, there have been three events resulting in turbine-powered aircraft experiencing engine shutdowns and engine operability issues due to inadvertent filling of fuel truck anti-icing injection system reservoirs with DEF instead of fuel system icing inhibitor (FSII) by FBO line personnel.
