NATA recently joined AOPA and NBAA in an amicus brief in support of a pilot with an impeccable record who is facing a certificate action proceeding before the NTSB. The pilot failed a drug test after an accidental ingestion of a medication containing a small amount of amphetamine.
We would like to thank Jamie Rodriguez and the team at Holland and Knight for their assistance in drafting the brief. “NATA is pleased to join with AOPA and NBAA to advocate for the fair treatment of pilots, a vital segment of the aviation workforce now facing decline. NATA supports the amicus brief as it stands, we and our industry partners note that the FAA has allowed suspensions in similar cases and this sets a dangerous precedent going forward,” stated NATA COO and General Counsel Timothy Obitts.
