Gov. Ron DeSantis Declares State of Emergency as Florida Prepares for Hurricane Dorian

Although hurricane season runs from June 1 to Nov. 30, the vast majority of storms form from mid-August to late October. The peak is Sept. 10. Two weeks early of peak season, Gov. Ron DeSantis issued a state of emergency for 26 Florida counties on Wednesday, including all of South Florida, as Hurricane Dorian approaches. All of Florida now is in Hurricane Dorian’s forecast zone as it travels away from Puerto Rico.
